Companion service ensures that children traveling alone are under secure supervision throughout the journey. This applies from the check-in counter, through security control, to the gate where the airline staff is ready to receive them, and through the airport at the final destination to the person waiting to receive the child.
The flight crew is always informed that an unaccompanied child is on board, and vigilance is maintained to ensure the child feels secure. In most cases, you can book companion service for your child when purchasing the flight ticket online within Scandinavia and Europe. For flights to other parts of the world, some airlines require you to contact their customer service directly.
With some airlines, you can also purchase companion service directly at the check-in counter in Copenhagen Airport. There is a limited number of unaccompanied children allowed per flight, so we recommend applying for companion service as early as possible. At Copenhagen Airport, companion service is provided by a ground handling company.
