In his current wheelchair, Bobby has been able to self-propel and to transfer himself from the floor into his chair, allowing him to stay active. He attends cubs and swimming, as well as chair racing, wheelchair skiing, basketball, golf, hockey and badminton. It is said to no longer supper his posture and is deemed unsafe. As a result, Bobby can no longer sit straight and the curve in his spine is worsening, as well as causing him pain.
The year-old had developed sepsis when he was five months old, resulting in an almost fatal cardiac arrest, which left him with an acquired brain injury, unable to speak or walk.
