This is a list of post-nominal letters letters after people's names that have been nominated by orders from government, and letters from professional associations in Australia. In general, postnominals are arranged in the following sequence: [ 1 ] [ a ].
Full-stops are not usually used in postnominals. Degree and diploma abbreviations are defined by the conferring university and vary from one to another.

All Imperial awards made to Australian citizens after 5 October are classed as foreign awards, and hence such Australian citizens are not entitled to use the associated post-nominal letters.
Those who were presented with these awards before that date are still permitted to use the post-nominal letters. Those who have been awarded this rank are still permitted to use the title and the post-nominal letters.
