Open Pantry Community Services provides an array of services throughout the Springfield region, with a focus on food and housing support services. Both individuals and families come to the EFP on an emergency basis. Last year, we distributed over 1,, pounds of food. Lunch and dinner are available seven days a week.
Last year we served over 46, meals to people in need. The meals provide sustenance, social interaction, and opportunities to connect people to additional resources.
Open Door Social Services program provides case management, housing search assistance, and substance use treatment referrals for people experiencing homelessness including those living in area shelters, on the streets, or temporarily staying with friends or relatives.
Open Door case management includes assisting people in meeting basic needs, accessing entitlement benefits, recovery coaching services, including substance use disorder groups, connecting with vocational rehabilitation and employment programs, filling out forms, and requesting vital documents including birth certificates and IDs.
Referrals are made so people can obtain shelter, permanent housing, as well as primary and behavioral health care. Funded by the Department of Children and Families, the Young Parent Living Program YPLP is a residential program for young parents between the ages of who are parenting or pregnant and in need of a safe place to live. YPLP is designed to meet the immediate and long-term needs of young parents and their children. The program assists young parents in accessing supportive resources and building their own skills and confidence.
