From early on in his career, Jeremy Safran advanced the notion that the study of early development can deepen our knowledge of psychotherapy and the therapeutic relationship in particular.
Safran believed that attachment theory offered a language for conceptualizing the qualities that can be transformative about therapeutic relationships, as well as a methodology for measuring the development of these qualities in psychotherapy.
