When Julie Gloer adopted her cat, Mr. Kitty, around , he was aptly namedβMr. Kitty was only a few weeks old, and tiny. An easygoing and friendly cat, he would gently sniff the flowers in a vase on the table. Gloer had to give Mr. Kitty to a neighbor when her living situation changed, and the two continued to live their lives separately for 12 years.
Recently Gloer, now living in Greeley, was looking for a companion for her dog while she was at work as a medical assistant at various King Soopers locations, largely in Fort Collins, so she would periodically scroll through the animals available for adoption at NOCO Humane.
As she scrolled, she came across a surprise. A cat named Mr. Kitty, roughly the same age as her cat from all those years ago, and with the same fur color and markings, was staying at the NOCO Humane facility in Loveland. So I immediately picked up the phone.
Kitty when he arrived. Being around 13 years old, with some arthritis, Mr. Kitty had been waiting at NoCo Humane since Oct. Kitty was healthy. Kitty has been with Gloer for less than a week, and is acclimating well. He has his own bedroom, where his litter box and food and water dishes stay, with a screen door across the doorframe that Mr.
Gloer has been going through a difficult time herself, she said, and Mr. Kitty represents not only a companion, but something like a sign.
