The film centers around the experiences of Stacy Thompson and Melissa Jackson at The Oasis, a health spa catering to single individuals.
As the story unfolds, complications arise as Stacy and Melissa navigate their respective relationships. The acting in this film is good, despite the fact that one of its stars is Andrew Dice Clay. Many movies about sex tend to be through the lens of men, so I like and appreciate that we get to see how women fell and talk about the subject.
This is the first feature film that acknowledged the AIDs epidemic and the fear that came with it, so for that alone, I give much respect to the creators. Movies like this, written by women Wendy Goldman and Judy Toll , directed by a woman Robert and starring women Thompson and Jackson helps to showcase that this is not a new thing. Women are self-empowered, know what they do and do not want and can view sex in casual and sometimes reckless way. Stacy and Melissa view sex very differently, and I like that they talk about it.
The jokes are defiantly dated, so if you are looking at this movie with a modern lens, you may get offended. I made the mistake of watching him do stand up after watching this movie years ago, and I have regrets. Overall, I still enjoy the movie. Skip to content. Share this: Tweet.
