KGNS - An investigation spanning several weeks with undercover detectives has ended in multiple arrests for prostitution. Authorities explained the investigation began after several complaints brought up by community members. Laredoans within a shopping plaza on Del Mar claimed that parked police cars, detectives and even immigration services swarmed the area outside of a massage parlor on Wednesday, October Joe Baeza, with the Laredo Police Department, explains the investigation spanned several weeks and went after various businesses.
This all began after multiple community member complaints reached the department. Baeza explains the Special Victims Unit carried out the undercover investigation gathering enough evidence to get a warrant ending in the arrest of four women. Lijuan Zhang and Dan Wang were simply arrested for failure to have a license. A Laredoan in the area claims he never saw anything particularly odd about the business.
The department stresses that it is important to crack down on these operations to prevent the possibility of human trafficking. At the time, Laredo Police do not believe that this investigation has anything to do with sex trafficking.
