Camping Champ de la Chapelle www. The campsite is set amongst the towering oak trees of the Forest of Troncais, the largest oak forest in Western Europe. There are 80 spacious pitches, 60 of which are supplied with 10 amp electric hookups. On the site we have a swimming pool, bar cafe, play areas for both very young and older children, a teen club and a 9 hole 'foot golf ' course.
At night we have some activities, forest walks, cheese and wine evenings and marsh mallow roasting around the camp fire. The surrounding area offers everything from swimming lakes with sandy beaches to beautiful chateaux, zip wires to medieval fetes. The campsite is located in the forest of Troncais, western Europes largest oak forest. The local village, Saint Bonnet Troncais has a swimming lake with sandy beach. The village has a number of shops, boulangerie, small supermarket, pharmacy, doctors surgery, pizzeria and bar. Locally there are some very good restaurants and Saint Amand Montrond has a town square surrounded by cafes and bistros. The area has a number of marvellous chateaux, castles and abbeys some of which host events such as art and sculpture displays, car shows, medival fetes etc.
In June there is an excellent air show about 40 minutes drive from the campsite. In September the famous donkey fair is held in Braize our local village. Every week there are local markets and brocantes French car boot sales and well worth visiting. For the sporty types cycling and walking are popular past times, not too many hills. Kayaking, fishing, horse riding, zip wires and so on are all within easy reach.
