Auburn football ended the first day of December's early signing period in relatively good standing. The second signing class of the Hugh Freeze era sits once again in top standing, though the coach pushed for a goal of top-five status throughout the regular season. With 25 signees through Wednesday, Auburn's class currently sits between sixth and eighth on three of the four major recruiting sites. But that wasn't a disappointment to Freeze.
The Tigers pulled off just one flip Friday, securing three-star defensive tackle Darrion Smith from Tennessee, but it missed out on a big-time flip in five-star cornerback Na'eem Offord. He flipped to Oregon from Ohio State, though he'd long been rumored to flip to Auburn.
One name to watch will be five-star defensive tackle Justus Terry. He'll announce his decision Friday, with Georgia as the presumed front-runner, but schools such as Auburn, Alabama and Texas remaining in the mix.
As the early signing period goes on, stay turned to our early signing period tracker here, with live updates and everything you need to know about Auburn's class. It was projected by national analysts at both Sports and On3 that Offord would flip to the Tigers from the Buckeyes.
But at the conclusion of Offord's signing day ceremony, he flipped elsewhere, throwing the Auburn hat off the table and putting on an Oregon one instead. Henderson's rushing total led the nation this season, and in reaching the five-figure mark in rushing yards, he became just the 12th player in the history of high school football to reach that career mark.
