I've narrowed my choices down to 2, and it looks like it will be Stan's or Sanderson headersβboth having positive feedback on this forum. Stan's says that the "Tri-Y" design is best for the lower power band, but as I understand, "shorty's" are good for this application as well.
Anyone have any input as to which one would they would prefer for my application? Pretty much stock at this point has Pertronix, Autolite , stock intake. I drive my truck to work everyday and I have a big yard so I use her to haul for my personal landscaping projectsβsometimes loaded up pretty good. I don't tow too often.
I drive slow on the freeway More interested in low end power than speed, but anything is a plus. Contact Ranchero You also really want more primary length for a lower torque boost. Flowtechs would do it but their flanges are thin as is the tube. The greatest downside of truck headers is them killing starters and being a PITA to work around. For a stock engine I would not waste time on headers or a 4bbl carb.
Pick up a big bore and install a mild torque cam with a decent 2. Your choice of muffler, I like the straight through style with the perf core. Love 'em. No problem. May your sails stay full, and your knots not slip.
