Westminster College announces several personal enrichment and leisure courses for the community residents. Continuing Education classes and seminars are non-credit and are open to all interested individuals. Formal admission to Westminster College is not required. Communicating with Your Dog is scheduled Thursdays Nov. Enrich the relationship you have with your dog with a new knowledge of doggy body signals. Time to be announced. This course is a continuation and review for those who enrolled in part one, or a starting point for new enrollees.
Come empty handed, and leave with a complete Gingerbread house in this fun-filled class. Basic Spanish for Kids is scheduled for Saturdays, Nov. Get a head start in learning basic Spanish vocabulary. This class will discuss Harry's roots, his relation in J. Tolkien, the contexts of the Magician's Stone, and the references to Greek mythology.
Web Design is scheduled Monday, Nov. This class guides students through the process of effectively designing a web site. In this class, students learn to enhance any document design and layout with Microsoft Publisher. This class is specifically for senior citizens who are new to the world of computers, and is a slow-paced fun workshop. This class teaches the basics of navigating on a computer and has an emphasis on word processing. In this session, students will learn to use the programs menu, keyboard shortcuts, and terminology.
E-Mail for Seniors is scheduled Tuesday, Nov. This class will go over how to create messages, send attachments, use the address book, and more. Internet for Seniors is scheduled Thursday, Nov. This class will examine common Internet terminology, the World Wide Web, web sites, browsers, and how to work them. Pilates is offered Wednesdays, Oct. This class follows the teachings of Joseph Pilates in strengthening the core of abdominal muscles along with toning and elongating the rest of the muscles of the body.
Total Yoga is offered Mondays and Wednesdays, Nov. This class will focus on poses to aid in stress reduction and relaxation. Power Yoga is offered Tuesdays and Thursdays, Nov. This class increases the speed that the poses are performed, as well as the length of time they are held. Gentle Yoga is offered Wednesdays, Nov. This class is especially designed for seniors, and moves through the poses slowly and gently to aid in mobility and general physical health.
