The CIM is a private, scientific, not-for-profit association. It was set up in Coimbra Portugal on December 3, Just in case you don't know it, Coimbra is home to the oldest university in this country, a city with a mild climate and circa Foreign visitors flying to Lisbon or Porto can easily reach Coimbra by train for schedules see the site of the portuguese railway company CP , or by bus.
In both cases the trip takes around two hours from Lisbon and one hour from Porto. The University of Madeira joined later but before the first General Assembly and is then considered founder institution. In , the University of Algarve also became a member. The CIM is using rent-free office space provided by the Department of Mathematics of the University of Coimbra on the campus of the Astronomical Observatory, in Almas de Freire, a suburban area of the city. This observatory enjoys a hilltop location on a beautiful 25 acre park.
It's a 10 minute bus ride from downtown and the Department of Mathematics may be reached riding the same bus line. Luis are easily reached by car from the campus.
