After receiving his degree in dentistry from the University of Minnesota in , Ken served as a dentist in the US Army in Oklahoma from When Ken and Jan first set eyes on Camarillo, they fell in love with the area and moved their young family to town in before Camarillo became a city. Together with Jan, they raised strong, competent, and loving daughters who each realized how blessed they were to have such amazing parents.
Ken had an insatiable curiosity. He could and did spend hours reading the fine print under every museum artifact or painting. He poured over the Smithsonian and National Geographic magazines, took adult classes and asked endless questions of tour guides on trips. For several years Ken volunteered and traveled to Nicaragua to perform dental work on local residents. He was always serving others.
After Ken was widowed in July of , he found love a second time with Shirley Smithtro whom he married in September, They shared a deep faith and gratitude for every day of their lives together which included countless trips, golf, cruises, bridge, dancing, concerts, and friendships. Ken was preceded in death by his wife Jan, brothers, Art Karen and Ralph.
Ken touched so many people in his 87 years. His brilliant smile and kindness to everyone will not be forgotten. Internment and a reception will immediately follow the service.
