In a new study published in the journal Nature Communications , a group of researchers claim that fresh evidence puts the first hominin activity in Eurasia. An international team of researchers from the United States, Great Britain, Australia, Sweden, and Romania reanalyzed excavations from the Graunceanu Valley taken in the s, dating them using uranium-lead dating methods.
The team found cut-marked bones on fossils at least 1. The research team wrote that in at least eight cases of the nearly 5, fossils examined, they found artificially created incisions appearing in positions that show the purposeful removal of tissue from the bone, likely by a human using a tool.
