Every student should be prepared to be in class with paper and pencil on the very first day. If you need help with your education, make sure that you seek that help as soon as possible. Don't wait till the problem gets too big. The Tribal Administration has an open door policy and we will help parents and students should the need arise or we will direct them to the programs that will provide the needed help.
If you feel that you are not receiving the help you deserve, we will intervene on your behalf. Let's continue the good work and make this coming school year an even better year. The Tribal Administration will periodically be visiting schools throughout the school year to meet with students and school administrators, counselors and teachers. The Tribal Administration, along with Tribal Council and POI Department Directors, are all working diligently to get federal stimulus funding and funds from other grants that will help with pending projects.
We have also received funding for the Bosque and Manzano Mountain restoration projects. I met with Gov. Mayor Ron Olguin Peralta and Mayor Aike Bosque Farms are supporting our efforts as they are also concerned about highway safety and see the need for a turning lane.
Other pending issues include our attempt to have trust status for Comanche Ranch. The administrative paper work for this was sent to the US Solicitor in February We hope to have further meetings on the silt situation and we will keep you informed on the results.
