View Full Version : Which of today's cars will be collectors in 20 years? I was just thinking about this earlier today for no apparent reason. The mustangs, camaros, gtos, etc from the 60's are collectors items now, even though they made a ton of them. I wonder which of today's cars will carry the same allure. Sure, things like FD RX-7's, Supras and the like will be coveted, but they weren't produced in huge numbers. Do you see today's Mustang or any other car becoming a classic?
I doubt any of them will be. Cars are notoriously fickle and the few cars that enjoying collecting things now will probably have moved on to some other hobby in 20 years. They have zero attention span. I would say that some of the pimped out new hemi Challengers will hit collector status in 20 years.
Matt Don't you imagine new interest will emerge? It's not only the Baby Boomers who are collecting the old iron nowadays. I'm really scared of the day I see a riced out Civic on Barrett Jackson The WRX without a doubt, the model years with the bug eyes.
To this day, I think the WRX is the best bang for the buck, and the mod community is so strong. I think the Caddy's will because their styling is what it is - it's love it or hate it. Obviously the Lotus cars, anything by Ferrari, Lambo, and Aston will be collectors. In before a huge argument about whether to define collector's cars as "cars that will appreciate to megabucks" and "cars that people will want to buy and drive," and each side will shout past each other ignoring what the other is saying.
These were a gift. The Corvette The Corvette is lower and wider than the current Corvette The newer Corvette has a shorter hood Don't you imagine new interest will emerge?
