Naomi Manischewitz. I moved to Reno recently. Aside from online dating, Meetup. I'm on 2 online dating websites and not having any luck as far as actually meeting someone once in other cities this was much easier. I go to a place of worship and it's always families or older folks. Just sit at Starbuck's, smile, and it will happen? So far most people in Reno are very friendly and warm which is great, but it just seems like a difficult place to meet a college educated man in that age range who has his act together.
Stop trying. Do what you enjoy, try to meet other people who do things you like to do without regard to dating potential, etc.
All of the gimmicks speed dating , tricks, places to meet, singles events, etc.. I second the motion Yes, there are bars, some good coffee houses, restaurants, band venues, sporting events. If you are looking for guys you could try seasonal sports at UNR or the Aces baseball. There are some good restaurants and bars near the Aces stadium. Java Jungle and Waldons are good coffee places. The Knitting Factory is a band venue that comes to mind but may be a bit younger crown than you are looking for.
Reno has some great food trucks with an eclectic group of followers. If you have a dog there's the Truckee Meadows Dog Club with classes. You are bound to meet others with similar interests. Ask co-workers and get online to find things that are going on around you. Probably a good time to explore new hobbies as well, it may introduce you to entirely new groups of people. Take up beer or wine making or both, join the local club and ask questions..
