Today, it is open for the public to visit and tour. This historic maritime structure is the oldest continually used and last staffed lighthouse in the United States, dating back long before the first shots of the Revolutionary War were fired.
Originally built in , the Boston Light has been damaged by war, weather, and time, and has been rebuilt and restructured throughout the centuries. The lighthouse can be seen as far as 27 miles out in the Atlantic, and has guided ships to safety for hundreds of years. Narrated boat tours of the Boston Light and the other historic Boston Harbor lighthouses are also available to visitors. The tree-lined avenue is populated by cozy restaurants, eclectic boutiques, the Boston Library, and a slew of fascinating galleries, perfect for a leisurely day or afternoon visit.
