Set in , it follows Mickey Robert Pattinson , who decides to take drastic action after running afoul of a criminal syndicate. Mickey 17 must deal with the paradox of living with his clone, his now-muddled romance with Nasha Naomi Ackie , and more. Based on the novel Mickey 7 by Edward Ashton, the film has fun with the ethics of cloning, space exploration, megalomaniacal leaders, and more. The humanity of Mickey himself is called into question, given that the original Mickey is dispatched early in the film.
The comedy and action are serviceable, but because they are supposed to be a means to an end that never fully materializes, their impact is lessened. Pattinson clearly has a blast playing the multiple roles the film requires, imbuing each clone with little differences. He plays Mickey 17 and 18 off each other well, going between slapstick and melodrama.
Ackie is a great complement to him, playing a supportive character who also has her own agenda. After a bunch of fireworks and pyrotechnics went off a few minutes before pm, a clip package of celebs giving Bun birthday wishes played on the screens. For the past few weeks, Bun has gotten clowned on social media for his all-over-the-place lineup. At this point in this show, Bun B came back out in a beige waistcoat with the UGK logo bedazzled on the back, looking like a land baron on Gunsmoke.
Once he hopped out wearing what looked like a black leather tracksuit with fringes and a blue handkerchief around his face , he performed several songs but also struggled with microphone problems. Next, Bun introduced another surprise performer: T. Keith Sweat was next, giving the right amount of old school energy as he sang hits from his New Jack Swing heyday.
Sweat prematurely left the stage at one point, thinking his set was over. An Ali Siddiq video appeared once as Bun introduced Ludacris , the final performer of the night.
