On Wednesday, members of the Rogers Police Department began an investigation into prostitution activity in Rogers that led to the arrest of 14 people, according to a news release. Investigators utilized a website during this investigation. Along with classified ads for merchandise for sale, the website has section advertising "escorts," police said.
According to the release, police gathered evidence over the course of several weeks that people placing ads in this portion of the website were actually involved in prostitution and were advertising their services available in Rogers, some with specific statements that they only arranged for meetings in Rogers. The investigation targeted both females working as prostitutes as well those who would pay for their services. During the investigation, agreements were reached between suspects either over the telephone or in person at a site in town.
Arrests were made once investigators established probable cause for the charges. Arrestees were held until the operation was complete, at which time all received citations to appear in the Rogers District Court.
